Silk Care

  • Cleaning: Silk is best brought to a drycleaner, but if you’re in a pinch you can do it at home. Hand wash: Place your silk in cold water with a little mild detergent and leave it to soak for a few minutes. Swish your garment slowly and then rinse with fresh water. Don’t wring out your garment, but ball it up and press out the water as best as you can. Lay it flat to dry.
  • Wrinkles: Silk wrinkles very easily, so it’s best to keep it hung up to avoid it creasing. If it does crease you can use your steamer to get the wrinkles out. If you don’t have a steamer, a nice trick is to hang up your silk in the bathroom while you have a hot shower. If you need to iron, flip your garment inside-out and be sure to use a low setting with a cloth between the silk and the iron.
